First Colony - Sugar Land will host the fifth and final race in the 7th Annual 2003 Memorial Hermann SportsCare Kiwanis Kids Triathlon Series, Saturday September 20 at the First Colony Aquatic Center. This tri-sport event, consisting of swimming, biking and running, is open to boys and girls between the ages of seven thru twelve. This is an excellent opportunity for children to experience the fun and excitement of a triathlon during a morning of friendly competition and physical activity that could lead to a lifetime of fitness.

Distances covered in the event include a 50-meter swim, a 1-mile bike ride and a quarter mile run for ages seven thru nine. Children between the ages of 10 thru 12 compete in a 100-meter swim,

2-mile bike ride and half mile run. Boys and girls compete separately and all finishers receive a medal at the conclusion of the race in recognition of their accomplishment.

The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and a USAT membership is required to participate. Pre-registration is open thru September 15th with an entry fee of $14 for USAT members and $17 for non-members. Race day registration rates are $17 for USAT members and $20 for non-members. Annual membership may be purchased at race packet pick up. Non-member rates include a $3 one day USAT membership. The event is sponsored by East Fort Bend County Kiwanis.
